PyroCMS (http://pyrocms.com/) hat seit der Version 1.3 zwei Zweige. Der Community Zweig ist die weiterhin freie Version des auf Codeigniter basierenden CMS. Der Professional Zweig hat nebst allen Features der Community Version jetzt auch eine wirklich einfache Multidomain/Multisite Verwaltung und zudem ist es möglich, das Backend selber zu branden. Und dies zu einem wirklich kleinen und fairen Preis (£40).

Natürlich bietet PYroCMS noch viel Raum für Weiterentwicklung – und wie in jeder Entwicklung gibt es immer wieder Bugs etc. Und ebenso natürlich kann es PyroCMS (noch?) nicht mit Systemen wie Expressionengine oder MODx voll aufnehmen und schon gar nicht mit Drupal, Typo3 oder Contrexx … Nur, mittlerweile bin ich überzeugt, dass im CMS Bereich zu oft mit Kanonen auf Spatzen geschossen wird. Und bedienerfreundlicher wird das alles dadurch nicht!

webbear.ch hat PyroCMS ausgiebig getestet und wir finden dies eines der interessantesten Content Management Systeme im Consumer Bereich. Und wer sich etwas in Codeigniter auskennt, kann mit wenig Aufwand selber Zusatzmodule und Funktionen programmieren und hat dafür ein bereits ausgearbeites Backend zur Verfügung.

Die Philosophie hinter PyroCMS:

PyroCMS takes a different approach to many content management systems and tries very hard not to try too hard. So many content managent systems try to do everything and they often end up seriously confusing the end-users. PyroCMS can make the majority of simple websites out of the box and will be the first 80% of anything more complex. When you need to fill in the final 20% you can take a look at the Add-on Store for existing modules, widgets and plugins or you can make your own and sell them afterwards.
By avoiding the full 100% we have built a much more usable system and we will keep it that way, while the extensibility and simplicity of Add-on development makes it easy and financially viable for everyone.
